Our Official Ranking of the 10 Best Disney Princesses of All Time
Disney princesses taught you that you could brush your hair with a fork and that woodland creatures make excellent best friends. Alright, so not all advice from your favorite leading ladies was practical, but raise your hand if you still treasure the time you spent watching these regal characters nonetheless (bonus points if you had an excellent conversation with a squirrel the other day). Regardless of whether you look to Disney princesses for love advice, laughter, or just a mental break, some princesses are more awe-inspiring than others — at least, we don't blame you for picking a favorite. Though we'd never pit women against each other, we've weighed the pros and cons of your favorite childhood heroines so you can settle the ongoing dispute with your sister once and for all — you’re welcome.

Jasmine (Aladdin)
We could easily discuss Jasmine's excellent harem pants and lovable pet tiger, but let’s focus on a few key character traits instead: she stood up to her father in her quest to marry for love instead of duty, she always spoke her mind, and wasn’t afraid to call the shots—whether it concerned leaving the castle walls or marrying a street rat. Get it, girl.
- 2/11
Mulan (Mulan)
She’s not technically a princess, but we still have a soft spot in our hearts for Mulan. She risked her life for her father’s and ended up saving her entire country. That’s right, she’s a national hero. To top it all of, she’s a gifted warrior who becomes the best soldier in the Chinese army, and still isn’t afraid to be true to her heart. Let the slow clap commence.
- 3/11
Anna (Frozen)
Wow. Where to begin? Anna is truly a princess that millennials can look up to. She’s a little socially awkward, isn’t afraid to call dudes out on their B.S., loves chocolate, and realizes the importance of spending time with her sister. Sounds just like you and your gal pals. You’ve never put these skills to the test, but if it came down to it, you could probably defeat a giant snow monster and save a kingdom, too.

Tiana (The Princess and the Frog)
Cinderella was forced to work scrubbing floors, but Tiana chose to work long nights waiting tables so that she could reach her goals. There aren’t any other princesses who can claim that! Her end game was never to be a princess, she just wanted to open a restaurant and was willing to do whatever it took to fulfill her dreams. For that, we consider Tiana to be one of the most badass Disney princesses of all time.
- 5/11
Belle (Beauty and the Beast)
There are so many things to love about Belle. She’s kind, intelligent, a total bookworm, forgiving, trusting, and a good singer to boot. It’s no surprise that she’s become one of the most popular classic Disney princesses of all time. Do we find it slightly weird she fell in love with her captor? Yes. Do we love singing along to “Be Our Guest” after all these years? Double yes.

Merida (Brave)
You never thought you needed a kilt or a red-tinge in your hair before watching Brave. But there’s just something about watching Merida traipsing through the green hills of Scotland that you find inspiring. Not only do her archery skills rival Katniss’, but she’s quick-witted and totally in sync with her family. And we love that this Disney flick is not all about finding a suitor, because Merida will be shootin’ for her own heart!
- 7/11
Pocahontas (Pocahontas)
Pocahontas had a good head on her shoulders. She respected nature, cherished her family, and followed her heart — even if it took her somewhere just around the river bend. Not only did she put herself on the line to bring peace between her tribe and the English settlers, but her running and swimming abilities made you wish you too could live in the wilderness…it would make working out so much more enjoyable.
- 8/11
Rapunzel (Tangled)
Rapunzel was uh-maz-ing! Although somewhat of a newcomer to the princess game, she knocked the ball out of the tower, er, park. She’s fiercely independent, artistic, and has found tons of ways to keep herself busy growing up in a tower without the aid of Netflix or Instagram — respect.
- 10/11
Elsa (Frozen)
We can all agree that Elsa's powers are wicked awesome and her hair is the stuff of #PinterestGoals, but she’s not exactly the best leading lady. She creates a giant snow monster to attack her sister! She freezes an entire kingdom and isn’t all too worried about it! She hides a secret for over a decade to avoid having one uncomfortable conversation with her sister! Whew, glad to get that out there. Now we can “let it go.”
