In these in silico simulations (10), each modeled patient's true glucose was measured hourly by simulated devices with defined bias and
imprecision. The measured glucose concentrations were used to select insulin infusion rates according to the Yale (11) and University of Washington (UW) (12) treatment regimens.
In this example, however, the irreversibility might be called 'small' in that the final uncertainty in the position approaches zero as [Delta]V is made smaller and smaller - for we have dealt with a model that suffers from relatively slight instability.(9) Yet since the uncertainty in the final position is measured by the product of [Delta]V and T, significantly large uncertainties can result from extremely small
imprecisions in the initial velocities.
The ESC /ACC also defined the acceptable
imprecision (CV) at the 99th percentile as [less than or equal to] 10%, an
imprecision goal not met by any current assay.
For each measurement procedure, day-to-day
imprecisions were estimated simultaneously with Unassayed Chemistry Control 1 and Unassayed Chemistry Control 2 (unassayed reference materials 731 and 732, respectively; Bio-Rad) as control materials and two serum pools from routine patient samples having values near the values obtained in the control materials.
Between-day and total
imprecisions at different boron concentrations are presented in Table 2.
When the two CV values are the estimated values for analytical
imprecisions of the two methods, Pharmacia and Delfia respectively, this interval describes more correctly the expected distribution of 95% of the measured ratios, if analytical
imprecision is the only source of variation.
