Bennett added to OU board

Fridaylander Clay Bennett was appointed earlier this week to the Board of Regents for the University of Oklahoma.
Gov. Mary Fallin made the appointment. It requires Senate confirmation.
Bennett is president of Dorchester Capital, a private investment firm, and is chairman of the Oklahoma City Thunder. He also serves as chairman of both the Oklahoma State Fair and the Oklahoma Industries Authority and is past chairman of the Greater Oklahoma City Chamber of Commerce, the Oklahoma Heritage Association, Downtown Oklahoma City, Inc. and the Oklahoma Health Center Foundation.
“Our universities play an integral part in producing the kind of talented, skilled workforce we need in order to compete in a global economy. That kind of quality work force, combined with the cutting-edge research done at universities like OU, helps to create new jobs and opportunities in Oklahoma,” Fallin said. “Clay Bennett brings with him to the OU Regents a commitment to maintain and expand OU’s level of academic achievement as well as the experience and insight he has gained as a successful businessman. I am confident he will be an effective leader who is committed to ensuring the university continues to provide a quality education to our students and a positive impact on our economy.”
Another Fridaylander, Nichols Hills resident Leslie J. Rainbolt-Forbes, was elected as vice chairman of the board. Appointed to the board by Gov. Brad Henry in 2006, Rainbolt-Forbes earned a medical degree with special distinction from the OU College of Medicine, after earning other degrees at Newcomb College at Tulane University and the Garvin School of International Management.
Rainbolt-Forbes served as an assistant clinical professor of dermatology and adjunct assistant clinical professor of pediatrics, until her retirement from practice.
Nichols Hills resident Richard R. Dunning also sits on the Board of Regents. He was appointed by Gov. Henry in 2007 and is a 1977 graduate of the University of Oklahoma. He currently is the president and CEO of Indian Exploration Company in Oklahoma City.
