The Brazilian was in dangerous mood, and he forced Chelsea goalkeeper Petr Cech to clutch a dangerous low cross as Barcelona pressed.

But Chelsea soaked up all the pressure before delivering a classic counter-punch to take the lead after 32 minutes.

Lampard released Duff down the right flank, and with Drogba and Joe Cole unmarked and waiting for his cross, Belletti unwittingly turned the ball into his own net.

Drogba then missed a glorious opportunity to score a crucial second for Chelsea two minutes later, firing wide with only Valdes to beat after good work by Claude Makelele.

Drogba's misery was complete when he was harshly sent off by referee Frisk following a clash with Valdes 10 minutes after half-time.

The striker had every right to challenge when Belletti's back-pass fell short, but Frisk stunned Chelsea by brandishing the red card as Valdes rolled in agony from the challenge.

Barcelona made an instant change, sending on Andres Iniesta for Demetrio Albertini.

And Iniesta almost struck seven minutes later, firing inches wide with Cech beaten.

Lopez, another substitute, had only been on three minutes when he put Barcelona level, taking a pass from Eto'o and firing a comprehensive finish past Cech.

And Lopez repaid the compliment with 17 minutes left, setting up Barcelona's second for Eto'o.

It was a goal with more than a hint of good fortune, with Lopez clearly firing in a shot that found its way to Eto'o, who flashed a first-time finish past Cech.
