Princes William and Harry have thanked the many people who have shared in their grief over the death of their mother exactly a year ago. But they have also asked for privacy on the first anniversary of the death of Diana, Princess of Wales.
Innumerable messages of condolence have been received by the Royal Family - many via the visitor's book at the British Monarchy's official Website.
The first anniversary of the death of Diana, Princess of Wales is being marked by private services by her family. Private services In Scotland, Princes William and Harry will be accompanied by their father Prince Charles and the Queen at a special service.
At Althorp, the Spencer family will hold a memorial service at the lakeside overlooking the island where Diana, Princess of Wales is buried. The timing of this service has not been made public but the earl and his two sisters are expected to attend this private act of worship. The Northamptonshire estate was closed to the public on Sunday although it is expected that flowers will continue to be laid at its gates from well-wishers. Mohamed al-Fayed, whose son Dodi died in the same crash as the princess, will attend a private memorial service at his son's tomb in the grounds of the family home at Oxted, in Surrey.
