J-gene

J-gene

one of a number of genetic regions located UPSTREAM of the CGENE on the eukaryotic GENOME, that can join to a V-GENE segment in the formation of an IMMUNOGLOBULIN light chain gene; and that can join to a DGENE segment, which is subsequently joined to a V-gene segment, to form an immunoglobulin heavy chain gene.
