gearhead
slang An enthusiast of motor vehicles, especially automobiles. I like tinkering with cars, but I wouldn't call myself a gearhead or anything. Seeing how fast this new model of engine works and how fast it can go really makes a gearhead like me excited. A: "I had no idea you were such a gearhead." B: "What can I say? My dad owned a garage when I was a kid, and I practically grew up there."
