This 10x magnification lighted loupe features a 21mm triplet lens and contains six bright white LED lights to illuminate the field of view & stones like never before and its natural white light helps to look at inclusions, a perfect light for viewing diamonds and other gemstones.
Another advantages is its achromatic & aplanatic optical glass magnifier for better viewing result,, and indeed has a very fine quality. Its triplet lens system corrects spherical and chromatic aberrations to eliminates color degradation and puts every part of the field of view in sharp focus.
Batteries are accessed by a screw latch that can be easily unscrewed with the included key or with a small pointed object like a paper clip. It comes with a Synthetic leather storage case, 3 button batteries and a key for the screw latch.

Great glass lens. Clear heavy duty and well made. Solid aluminium body and SS lens cover. Switch isn't hard to use, and cover doesn't interfere with it. Batteries fully charged when I received it. Rugged snapping leather case. You'll need the light even at 10X magnification unless you're in full daylight. If you're on the fence just buy one. Great value. I've used it a half dozen times this week already. You'll find all kinds of uses for it. This is a portable lens. Note the size. If you're inspecting photo negatives or artwork etc. buy something with a built-in round base seen elsewhere.
Great lens with must have LED illumination.

Buy a 20 pack of batteries on Amazon, it does eat batteries quickly.
My guess is you get ~10-30 minutes? of light per set of 3. Very rough guess though.
Haven't tried the cheap 20 pack batteries yet, I expect they will be consumed even faster
as they came out of the package at less than the 1.50Vdc.
They should have measured about 1.59-1.63Vdc if they were new Duracells, etc.
if they were quality batteries.

It comes with a built in UV and LED light. The batteries are pre-installed so it is easy to use. Just slide to the off and on positions. Just make sure it's all the way off before putting it in the case. I will go on a limb and say some people think the batteries doesn't last because when they closed it, it stayed on until next use. So again, if it's not off directly in the center, it is easy to accidentally move to one of the two on positions (UV or LED). The lights are powerful so that should not be a worry. Try using a white background. The size is a 10X triplet and it will be good for most quick visual processes. I ordered a triplet loupe from the GIA and they sent it to the wrong person so while waiting for a replacement I ordered this one. I have no regrets. This is Loupe is able to accurately do everything I need for. The price and quality is right.
Update: Received my more expensive Loupe and this Express loupe is way more comfortable to use. The size is a major plus. Lights still work.

This lens has impressive optics. Images are very clear allowing fine details to be seen. The field of view at 21 mm is excellent, enabling a large area to be viewed. It is good for viewing the details of crystals in a rock or individual mineral crystals. Attached photos show a flat polished piece of quartz-microgabbro and a group of grossular garnets. Also a photo of a millimetre ruler plus detail of the same photo. Taken with a phone camera they are not quite as good as what you can see with your eye because when you are using it you make minor position adjustments to view different areas.StanMIdeal for Geology, Petrology and Mineralogy

The white LED light is very useful when there is insufficient light available, although you do get some reflection off shiny surfaces. It should be ideal in shaded spots such as dense forests or on a very dull day. The long wave UV light works fine. It was good to see some calcite crystals glowing pink. As the light is also visible (i.e. not a black light) it is not the same as using far more expensive UV lighting.
Construction is excellent with just the right stiffness in the hinge. It has a smart leather case for storage and there is a slot at the top for attachment of a lanyard.
