Lanzarote Surf Spot Map

Lanzarote is know as the Hawaii of Europe, which should tell you something about the waves that you can expect on a surf trip here. The surf, swell, weather and location are almost identical to that of Fuerteventura, and even the waves are similar. It can get big, powerful waves firing off its reefs throughout October to March, but is consistent enough throughout the rest of the year. Good waves can be found throughout the year, no matter when you visit.

The Island picks up swells on its North, East and West coasts.

No matter what level of surfing you are currently at there is something to offer you a good time at Lanzarote. Experienced surfers can test their mettle on waves such as La Santa Left (The Slab) and El Quemao - the Pipeline of the Canary Islands. For those less experienced or novice surfers there are beach breaks and also surf schools to learn with. Famara is a good place to head for, a huge arc of sand catching the swells for you to surf. There is also plenty of opportunity to explore on your own, or head off to neighbouring islands.

Localism can be a problem throughout the Canarys, so make sure you behave yourself when you are surfing there. Here are a few topics for less experienced surfers:
