ਗੈਰ-ਬਾਈਨਰੀ ਜੈਂਡਰ
ਗੈਰ-ਬਾਈਨਰੀ ਜੈਂਡਰ ਪਹਿਚਾਣ ਦਾ ਇੱਕ ਸਪੈਕਟ੍ਰਮ ਹੈ, ਜੋ ਖ਼ਾਸ ਤੌਰ 'ਤੇ ਨਾ ਨਰ ਹੈ ਅਤੇ ਨਾ ਹੀ ਮਾਦਾ ਹੈ, ਇਹ ਪਹਿਚਾਣਾਂ ਜੈਂਡਰ ਬਾਇਨਰੀ ਤੋਂ ਬਾਹਰ ਦੀਆਂ ਹਨ।[1] ਜੈਂਡਰਕੁਈਰ ਉਸੇ ਅਰਥਾਂ ਨਾਲ ਪਹਿਲਾਂ ਵਰਤੀ ਗਈ ਟਰਮ ਹੈ ਜੋ 1980 ਤੋਂ ਕੁਈਰ ਜ਼ੀਨ ਤੋਂ ਲਈ ਗਈ ਸੀ।[2]
ਗੈਰ-ਬਾਈਨਰੀ ਲੋਕਾਂ ਦੀ ਪਹਿਚਾਣ ਦੋ ਜਾਂ ਦੋ ਤੋਂ ਵੱਧ ਜੈਂਡਰ (ਬਾਇਜੈਂਡਰ ਜਾਂ ਟ੍ਰਾਈਜੈਂਡਰ ਵਜੋਂ),[3][4] ਬਿਨ੍ਹਾਂ ਕਿਸੇ ਜੈਂਡਰ ਤੋਂ (ਅਜੈਂਡਰ, ਗੈਰ-ਜੈਂਡਰ, ਜੈਂਡਰ ਰਹਿਤ, ਜੈਂਡਰ ਮੁਕਤ); ਜੈਂਡਰ ਹੋਣ ਜਾਂ ਨਾ ਹੋਣ ਦੇ ਦਰਮਿਆਨ ਵਾਲੀ ਲਿੰਗ ਪਛਾਣ (ਜੈਂਡਰ -ਫਲੁਇਡ) ਹੋਣਾ;[5] ਤੀਜਾ ਜੈਂਡਰ ਜਾਂ ਹੋਰ ਜੈਂਡਰ (ਇੱਕ ਸ਼੍ਰੇਣੀ ਜਿਸ ਵਿੱਚ ਉਹ ਲੋਕ ਸ਼ਾਮਲ ਹੁੰਦੇ ਹਨ ਜੋ ਆਪਣੇ ਜੈਂਡਰ ਦਾ ਕੋਈ ਨਾਮ ਨਹੀਂ ਰੱਖਦੇ) ਵਜੋਂ ਕੀਤੀ ਜਾਂਦੀ ਹੈ।[6]
ਲਿੰਗ ਦੀ ਪਛਾਣ ਜਿਨਸੀ ਜਾਂ ਰੋਮਾਂਟਿਕ ਰੁਝਾਨ ਤੋਂ ਵੱਖਰੀ ਹੈ,[7] ਅਤੇ ਗੈਰ-ਬਾਈਨਰੀ ਲੋਕਾਂ ਵਿੱਚ ਕਈ ਤਰ੍ਹਾਂ ਦੇ ਜਿਨਸੀ ਝੁਕਾਅ ਹੁੰਦੇ ਹਨ, ਜਿਵੇਂ ਕਿ ਟਰਾਂਸਜੈਂਡਰ ਅਤੇ ਸਿਸਜੈਂਡਰ ਲੋਕ ਕਰਦੇ ਹਨ।[8]
ਇੱਕ ਗੈਰ-ਬਾਈਨਰੀ ਜੈਂਡਰ ਇੱਕ ਵਿਸ਼ੇਸ਼ ਜੈਂਡਰ ਸਮੀਕਰਨ, ਜਿਵੇਂ ਕਿ ਐਂਡਰੋਜਨੀ ਨਾਲ ਸੰਬੰਧਿਤ ਨਹੀਂ ਹੈ।ਇਹ ਇੱਕ ਸਮੂਹ ਵਜੋਂ ਗੈਰ-ਬਾਈਨਰੀ ਲੋਕਾਂ ਵਿੱਚ ਦੇ ਕਈ ਤਰ੍ਹਾਂ ਦੇ ਲਿੰਗ ਪ੍ਰਗਟਾਵੇ ਹੁੰਦੇ ਹਨ ਅਤੇ ਕੁਝ ਲਿੰਗ "ਪਛਾਣ" ਨੂੰ ਪੂਰੀ ਤਰ੍ਹਾਂ ਰੱਦ ਕਰਦੇ ਹਨ।[9]

The term transgender is an umbrella term "and generally refers to any and all kinds of variation from gender norms and expectations" (Stryker 19). Most often, the term transgender is used for someone who feels that the sex assigned to them at birth does not reflect their own gender identity. They may identify as the gender 'opposite' to their assigned gender, or they may feel that their gender identity is fluid, or they may reject all gender categorizations and identify as agender or genderqueer.
