Inside the shop, you’ll feel right at home with a friendly, experienced team, probably a Skrocki. And outside, you can take advantage of all that our bountiful Lake Michigan playground has to offer. In 2004, Beryl Skrocki alongside her husband Frank, with three children at the hip, took a grand leap and opened Michigan’s first full service surf shop. Sleeping Bear Surf was founded, and continues to thrive in the teeny tiny Village of Empire, in the heart of the Sleeping Bear Dunes National Lakeshore. Now celebrating a whopping 20 years.
