The StdWXCalculate service uses the StdRainRater service/RainRater XType to calculate field rainRate. This behaviour is hard coded and the user cannot use StdWXCalculate (or the StdRainRater service/RainRater XType) to calculate other similar rate based fields (eg hailRate or another rain rate field for a second rain gauge).

There was some discussion of such an extension of the StdWXCalculate service at issue #491.
