Let’s get this out of the way from the start: San Clemente is a hotbed for high performance surfing. It’s synonymous with the town to the point of cliché. And while it may be true thanks to the waves (Trestles, T-Street, the Pier, etc.) and the surfers (Kolohe Andino, Griffin Colapinto, the brothers Gudauskas, and many more), the town, itself, couldn’t be more mellow. A stark contrast from the streets to the seas. But, from a surf industry standpoint, the town is booming – shapers, glassers, and surf shops make up a good chunk of the local economy. And that means, in addition to the quality surf, there’s a healthy crew of dedicated residents consistently lighting up the local haunts.
