In part one of a TV6 Investigates three-part series on drug trends in the Upper Peninsula, TV6 looks at how Marquette County is seeing fewer drug cases, but crystal meth still remains a problem.
The Marquette water line survey was released due to revisions made to the lead and copper rule by the Michigan Department of Environment, Great Lakes and Energy requiring Michigan municipalities to replace their lead service lines in the next 10 years.
Upper Michigan communities are facing short and long-term deadlines to be in compliance with state and federal regulations for lead service line replacement. The city of Escanaba has more than 4,000 lead service lines that will need to be replaced by 2041.
