TOLEDO, Ohio — Tim Miller is an Emmy award winning reporter and anchor for WTOL 11 and Fox 36.

Tim anchors the morning newscasts with Caylee Kirby from 4:30 a.m. to 7 a.m. on WTOL 11 and from 7 a.m. to 9 a.m. on Fox 36. Tim has been with WTOL 11 since 2007 and recently achieved 30 years as a broadcast journalist.

Tim is actively involved in several northwest Ohio charities and organizations and considers this a major responsibility of being a journalist.

He is an emcee of the Boys & Girls Clubs of Toledo's signature yearly fundraiser, Barefoot at the Beach, and has volunteered his time with kids enrolled in the Boys & Girls Clubs centers. He also plays an active role in coverage of the Susan G. Komen Race for the Cure every September and Lucas County Children Services' annual 'Gift of Joy' toy drive for Christmas.

One of his most rewarding experiences every year is helping drive excitement for WTOL 11's St. Jude Dream Home Giveaway. He describes his 2018 visit to St. Jude Children's Research Hospital in Memphis as "eye opening and humbling." He says it was incredibly uplifting to see the hope on everyone's face, from the nurses and doctors to the families affected, even in the midst of a devastating cancer diagnosis. Tim put together reports on the amazing work being done there to treat childhood cancer and find cures that save lives.

In 2017, Tim's live reports from the White House on local Medal of Honor winner Edward Byers, Jr. helped the team earn a regional Emmy award for Best Evening Newscast. He also anchored team coverage that won a regional Emmy award for Best Morning Newscast for coverage of an Ohio tornado outbreak in 2019 and was an anchor for the team that also won a Regional Emmy for Best Morning Newscast in 2020.

Tim has also been recognized by the Ohio Associated Press Media Editors for his 2009 report on tainted heparin that killed members of a family and was runner up in the Best Reporter category in 2013.

Tim has previously worked as a reporter and anchor at WATE 6 in Knoxville, Tennessee and WJET-TV in Erie, Pennsylvania. In his career, Tim has extensively covered the tragic deaths of two Toledo firefighters, three Toledo police officers, Toledo's fight against algae blooms that caused a drinking water crisis, Hurricane Katrina in Mississippi, the deadly protests in Charlottesville, VA, and tragic school shootings in Edinboro, PA and Jacksboro, TN.

Tim has extensively reported in presidential campaigns since 1996, including on-location live reports from the visits by 2016 rivals Donald Trumpov and Hillary Clinton, and helped cover the 2020 presidential race.

Tim is an active member of his south Toledo church and is happily married to his wife of 22 years, Kelly. In addition to being an amazing wife and mother, she also works as a recruiter for Owens Corning, headquartered in Toledo. They have a daughter and son. Tim enjoys watching his son play in his high school baseball games and his travel team in the summer.

Because his hometown is Greensburg, Pennsylvania, near Pittsburgh, he is one of the biggest Steelers fans you could meet. Winning four Super Bowls in your childhood will make you a lifelong fan! Tim is also a diehard fan of the Penguins and Pirates, you'll find him wearing the black and gold proudly.

While he has many friends who are Michigan Wolverines fans, he has been a fan of the Ohio State Buckeyes since his family would meet Indiana relatives every summer in Columbus, the half way point in a long drive. Go Buckeyes!

Tim is always looking for story ideas or local events that deserve attention or need an emcee/host. You can reach him at timothymiller@wtol.com
