As the "Minsk-news" agency correspondent reports, the official ceremony that was held in the park on a sunny Saturday afternoon was attended by Assistant to the President of the Republic of Belarus - the chief inspector of the city of Minsk Alexander Yakobson, Deputy Chairman of the Minsk City Executive Committee Igor Karpenko, Ambassador Extraordinary and Plenipotentiary of the Bolivarian Republic of Venezuela to the Republic of Belarus Americo Diaz Nunez and the embassy staff, Ambassador Extraordinary and Plenipotentiary of the Republic of Kazakhstan to the Republic of Belarus Yergali Bulegenov, Ambassador Extraordinary and Plenipotentiary of the Socialist Republic of Vietnam to Belarus Do Van Mai, Head of the Frunze District Administration Boris Vasilyev, representatives of the Minsk city organization "Belaya Rus", the Belarusian Republican Youth Union and other public associations and political parties in Minsk.


"It has become a tradition in our country to arrange Subbotniks in the spring and autumn to improve landscaping and to clean up public places and other areas", said I.Karpenko addressing the audience. "Wide sections of population – labour groups, members of the general public, youth are involved in these events. This year, as part of a citywide work day, we have gathered in the residential area Kamennaya Gorka where we are inaugurating Park named after Hugo Chavez. In late December of 2013 the Minsk City Council of Deputies adopted a decision on awarding the park within the boundaries of Kamennogorskaya, Lidskaya, Kolesnikov and Kazimirovskaya streets the name "Park named after Hugo Chavez." The Venezuelan leader had visited Belarus several times. During one of his visits to Minsk he visited house No 31 in Kazimirovskaya Street to get acquainted with Belarusian construction technology of large-panel houses. It was then that an impetus to large-scale cooperation between Belarus and Venezuela was given in the construction industry. Such houses are planned to be built on standard projects in Venezuela", he continued.
According to Igor Karpenko, the park in Kamennaya Gorka will be a symbol of friendly relations between the two countries. It is symbolic that this year they marked the 60th anniversary of Hugo Chavez's birth.
"Over time, the park will become a recreation center for all residents of Kamennaya Gorka", noted the Deputy Chairman of the Minsk City Executive Committee. "The project envisages the construction of several playgrounds. There will be rides for the kids. It is proposed to create a specially equipped area for children with disabilities. A series of sports facilities have been designed for those who prefer of a healthy lifestyle - a football field, a playgrounds for mini-football, volleyball, badminton, mini-golf. They are also going to equip places for extreme sports, to install street simulators, create bike tracks and ecological trails. They will adorn the park with clearings and alleys – birch, oak, maple, pine, spruce alleys. All this is to be done in the near future. And today we will make our contribution to the improvement and refinement of this area", he said.
In turn, the Ambassador Extraordinary and Plenipotentiary of the Bolivarian Republic of Venezuela to Belarus Americo Diaz Nunez thanked the leaders of the country and the Minsk City Executive Committee for the commemoration of Hugo Chavez in Belarus.
"Our country is proud of the fact that it has friends like Belarusians", the Ambassador said. "Hugo Chavez had the greatest respect for the people of Belarus. This beautiful park will be for all of us a constant reminder of the friendly relations between our countries which were founded by Hugo Chavez and the President of the Republic of Belarus Alexander Lukashenko".
The Head of the Frunze District Administration Boris Vasilyev emphasized that the opening of the new park would be a good gift not only to the residents of the Frunze District, but the city and the country in general, and especially to children and youth.

The choreographic group "Vdokhnovenie" from school No 201 showed their skills to all those who were present at the ceremony. The group performed a Venezuelan dance which delighted the foreign visitors.

Then there was a grand opening of the commemorative plaque in honor of the friendship of the Belarusian and Venezuelan people, in honor of the President of the Bolivarian Republic of Venezuela Hugo Chavez. The event was attended by Assistant to the President of the Republic of Belarus - the chief inspector of the city of Minsk Alexander Yakobson, Deputy Chairman of the Minsk City Executive Committee Igor Karpenko, Ambassador Extraordinary and Plenipotentiary of the Bolivarian Republic of Venezuela to the Republic of Belarus Americo Diaz Nunez, Head of the Frunze District Administration Boris Vasilyev.


And then the high-ranking guests and those present took part in planting trees and bushes in the park.



As it became known, soon a capsule with the ground from Venezuela will be delivered to the park. Plants and trees growing in that distant country may also appear in the park. The Embassy of the Bolivarian Republic of Venezuela to the Republic of Belarus are going to actively participate in the arrangement of the park named after Hugo Chavez in future too.
