"It has become a tradition in our country to arrange Subbotniks in the spring and autumn to improve landscaping and to clean up public places and other areas", said I.Karpenko addressing the audience. "Wide sections of population – labour groups, members of the general public, youth are involved in these events. This year, as part of a citywide work day, we have gathered in the residential area Kamennaya Gorka where we are inaugurating Park named after Hugo Chavez. The Venezuelan leader had visited Belarus several times. During one of his visits to Minsk he visited house No 31 in Kazimirovskaya Street to get acquainted with Belarusian construction technology of large-panel houses. It was then that an impetus to large-scale cooperation between Belarus and Venezuela was given in the construction industry. Such houses are planned to be built on standard projects in Venezuela", he continued.

According to Igor Karpenko, the park in Kamennaya Gorka will be a symbol of friendly relations between the two countries. It is symbolic that this year they marked the 60th anniversary of Hugo Chavez's birth.

"Over time, the park will become a recreation center for all residents of Kamennaya Gorka", noted the Deputy Chairman of the Minsk City Executive Committee. "The project envisages the construction of several playgrounds. There will be rides for the kids. It is proposed to create a specially equipped area for children with disabilities. A series of sports facilities have been designed for those who prefer of a healthy lifestyle - a football field, a playgrounds for mini-football, volleyball, badminton, mini-golf. They are also going to equip places for extreme sports, to install street simulators, create bike tracks and ecological trails. They will adorn the park with clearings and alleys – birch, oak, maple, pine, spruce alleys. All this is to be done in the near future. And today we will make our contribution to the improvement and refinement of this area", he said.

In turn, the Ambassador Extraordinary and Plenipotentiary of the Bolivarian Republic of Venezuela to Belarus Americo Diaz Nunez thanked the leaders of the country and the Minsk City Executive Committee for the commemoration of Hugo Chavez in Belarus.

"Our country is proud of the fact that it has friends like Belarusians", the Ambassador said. "Hugo Chavez had the greatest respect for the people of Belarus. This beautiful park will be for all of us a constant reminder of the friendly relations between our countries which were founded by Hugo Chavez and the President of the Republic of Belarus Alexander Lukashenko".
