The free service allows you to sign up for breaking news alerts or specify topics and keywords that you're interested in. The system will automatically alert you to any news about the topics you select as soon as they're posted, and the program offers access to a greater breadth of content than you'll find on the KOMO news home page.
KOMO News Alert allows users to apply unique filter mechanisms, so you receive only news and information of personal interest.
In addition to broad filtering capabilities, how and when alerts are delivered to your computer is entirely configurable by you.
Desktop Alerts: Download and install the free KOMO desktop news alerts program and choose which type of stories you'd like to be alerted to. The system can be configured to display an alert on your screen, a news ticker, or flash an icon in the system tray of your Windows computer.
For example, you could enter "Seahawks" as a keyword you're interested in and the program would alert you anytime a story containing "Seahawks" is published.
The desktop news client also allows you to subscribe to customized news feeds and breaking news alerts to be delivered to your e-mail inbox.
The system will keep track of your alerts if you're not running the program, so next time you launch it you can catch up on the news.
Web Client: If you don't want the full-featured desktop system or aren't running Windows, you can use our web-based alert system, which is an innovative news and information alerting system that facilitates access for MacIntosh or Windows-based machines from anywhere, including corporate settings where one may not have permissions to install local applications.
The web client will also allow you to sign up to receive news alerts and daily news summaries delivered to your e-mail inbox. You can even customize the e-mails to contain stories that match your interests.

(Your browser must allow pop-up windows for the web client to function correctly.)
