MARQUETTE, Mich. (WLUC) - A new martial art has arrived in Marquette. Superior Judo @ Marquette brings a family-friendly and fun experience of Judo. The Judo classes opened last week in the Northern Lights Martial Art Center.

This Japanese martial may seem violent or aggressive but owner and head trainer Issam Elbizri says Judo is all about taking control and defending your space without causing any harm.

Judo can be used as a self-defense tool or even a way to fall safely. Judo even brings lessons on discipline and mental well-being.

Elbizri also says these many aspects can be used in daily life.

Elbizri encourages anyone interested to join a class. Superior Judo @ Marquette has sessions every Saturday at 10 a.m. and each session is 90 minutes.
