This program provides assistance to National Marine Mammal Stranding Network participants and researchers. Fisheries Disaster Assistance

We administer disaster assistance under the Magnuson-Stevens Act and the Interjurisdictional Fisheries Act. At the request of a state governor or an elected or duly-appointed representative for an affected fishing community, the Secretary of Commerce determines if a fishery is eligible for disaster assistance subject to appropriation of funds by Congress.
